Managing your domain names in the Apexhost Client Area allows you to control important settings such as auto-renewal, nameservers, contact details and transfer options. This article explains where to find your domains and what each common domain management option is used for.

Before managing a domain, make sure you have access to the Apexhost Client Area account that owns or administers the domain name.

You should also know which domain you want to manage, especially if your account contains multiple domains or services.

1. Log in to the Apexhost Client Area.

2. Open the Domains section.

3. Select My Domains.

4. Choose the domain name you want to manage.

From the My Domains page, you can view and manage the domains hosted or registered through Apexhost.

Auto-renewal helps prevent accidental domain expiry. When enabled, the domain will be renewed automatically according to the billing settings on your account, provided payment is successfully completed.

If you no longer need a domain, disable auto-renewal before the next renewal date.

Nameservers control where your domain looks for its DNS records. You may need to update nameservers when connecting your domain to a website, hosting service, email platform or external DNS provider.

Only change nameservers if you know where your DNS records are currently managed. Incorrect nameserver settings can affect your website and email services.

Registered nameservers are custom nameserver records associated with your domain, such as ns1.yourdomain.com.au. These are usually only needed if you operate your own DNS infrastructure or hosting platform.

You can manually renew an eligible domain from the domain management area. Renewing early does not usually shorten your registration period; the renewal time is added to the existing expiry date.

The contact details attached to a domain identify the registrant and administrative contacts for that domain. Keep these details accurate so you can receive important renewal, verification and policy notices.

An EPP code, also called a transfer code or authorisation code, is used when transferring a domain away to another registrar. For eligible Australian domains, the code can be requested from the domain management area.

Keep the EPP code secure. Anyone with access to the code may be able to start a domain transfer.

* DNS and nameserver changes can take time to propagate across the internet.

* Domain transfer and renewal options may vary depending on the domain extension.

* Some changes may require confirmation by email or approval from the registered domain contact.

* If your website or email stops working after changing nameservers, check that the required DNS records exist at the new DNS provider.

The domain may be registered under a different Apexhost Client Area account, or your user account may not have permission to manage it. Check that you are logged in with the correct account.

This usually means the new nameservers do not contain the required DNS records. Review the DNS zone at the new provider and confirm that website, email and verification records have been recreated correctly.

The domain may not be eligible for transfer, may be locked, or may require registrant verification first. Confirm the domain status and contact details before trying again.

Yes. If the domain is eligible for renewal, you can renew it before the expiry date from the domain management area.

Only disable auto-renewal if you do not want to keep the domain. Leaving auto-renewal enabled helps reduce the risk of accidental expiry.

Changing nameservers moves DNS control for the domain to the new nameserver provider. Your website and email will continue to work only if the correct DNS records exist at that provider.
